SATC Saturday: An 80's Flashback

For this week's installment of SATC Saturday, think Madonna, Preppy, Shoulder Pads and Walkmans. Yes, the girls are flashing back to the 80's!

Carrie is rocking Madonna's "Like a Virgin" look
and of course Charlotte is preppy, preppy, preppy...
Miranda with her power suit including the all important 80's shoulder pads
and a Sally Jesse Raphael haircut
Samantha, well, was apparently Samantha all the way back in the 80's
complete with her walkman
Word is mixed as to whether Jason Lewis will be making an appearance as Smith. I've heard that Sam will have a new guy in her life. Rumor is that the new guy will be played by former Mr. Croatia, Flip Kleva. Below are the only pics I could find of him on the internet. I say bring back Smith!!!
Then I just now found this photo. At the time this post was published I hadn't been able to locate a "clean copy". This is from Perez Hilton so it has his doodles drawn on it, but I concur...WHAT?!?!?
Bette Midler was on set one day last week and
it is rumored that she may be playing the role of... wait for it...

Carrie's Mom!
Finally, just the obligatory Mr. Big photo...
I heard that Chris Noth had gained some weight to play a role on Broadway and was concerned that he might be too big to play the role of Big. Do I have to call him John now that we know his name? It just doesn't seem right!

That's the update for this week...

Ahh 80's fashions, be so very afraid. The Meranda shoes crack me up with her suit. It reminds me of Baby Boom with Diane Keaton or Secret of My Success with Michael J. Fox!!

I didn't even recognize Samantha..wow!

I'm still so worried about the rumor of big cheating on Carrie...I will just cry if that happens!!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love  Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts.

I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.

Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)...

Here's the Phase 1ingredients... Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too) I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 because I use my yogurt cup as a meas…

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches...

Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress

And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew...
It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an "A&quo…

Pumpkins, Gourds & Flowers, oh my!

Yesterday, I went to the Dallas Arboretum.  Lisa, Jennifer, and I went as my birthday outing.  We got a late start due to some court delays, so we stopped for lunch first.  I needed some make-up too, so we went to Neimans.  We ogled some purses, had lunch, I got some make-up and then we headed out to the arboretum (in the rain).

It was raining pretty good on the way over, but luckily, we only needed umbrellas for a few minutes.  Thankfully the sun never came out, because it was so humid, I'm pretty sure we would have melted.

First, we made our way toward the Pumpkin Village...

I love how they made garland out of the mini-pumpkins...

These rose bushes were just stunning!  The roses on each bush varied in color from a coral, to a blush, to a purple hue...
It was Fall at the arboretum, and pumpkins, gourds, and mums are a large part of the visit.  However, they also have a Chihuly art exhibition going on.  I took so many pictures, I HAVE to make that it's whole separate post.  …
