A Girls Day at the Mall

Today was a day for us girls to hit the mall.  I have been planning for awhile to take Maddie and Gracie to see "Ramona and Beezus".  I read all of the books back in the day, and I gave the girls all the books two Christmases ago.  Maddie was tied up in a Girl Scouts activity until 11:30, so it was just Gracie and me for bit.  We had lunch in the food court...
Then I taught Gracie how to smuggle cookies into the movie.  We met up with Maddie and their Mom before the movie started.
It was really, really cute.  Since I read the books a hundred years ago I don't know how true the movie was to the book, but it was good.  I will say that I didn't picture the Quimby parents being quite this pretty...
and Uncle Hobart... yeah, I know I didn't picture him looking like this...
not that I'm complaining of anything!

After the movie, I parted ways with the girls and planned to "just run into Nordstrom".  They are having their Anniversary sale.  If you aren't familiar, the Anniversary Sale is the sale to end all sales.  What's so great about it is that it is all new Fall preview stuff.  It isn't dirt cheap, but it is certainly reduced prices.  I always purchase bras and Spanx (and sometimes a purse) for my Mom to give me for Christmas, but since I got bras so dirt cheap a few weeks ago, I was only intending to get the Spanx.

Well, it so happens that I walked past the clothing section and stopped to look at a cute top.  This really nice sales lady stopped and helped me.  Then it was on.  This sales lady was to me what I am to all my friends.  She brought me stuff and helped me decide what pieces to buy.  I really like all that I got.  Check it out...

This navy blue ruffle tank really surprised me.  Didn't think I'd like it, but it's cute on!
The next two tops were on for 2 for $50!  Just one was $40, so of course I got two...
This grey one has beading all along the cut out areas...
and this one, I'm already calling it my Real Housewives of OC shirt...
I'm not sure that's a great thing, but I guess a little bling never hurt!
and because I would NEVER wear any of these without something covering my arms...
I got this black "sweater" with ruffles (it's really a thin fabric, not sweater-y)
and this one...

Here are the complete ensambles...

If you need a great sales lady at Nordstrom (Northpark Dallas), shoot me an e-mail and I'll give you her name!  She was great!

You have found some great deals. I have been steering clear of Nordy's! I just know I will find way to many cute things. Maybe if the hubs finds a job soon... I have looked online and I think I drooled a little.

The Nordies anniversary sale is love! I got some really cute Nine West bootie boots, and a similar sweater to yours. I got that black Olivia Moon ruffled front open drape cardigan sweater. I really like the pink one you got, I didn't see that one at North Park.

I love those clothes! I absolutely love those sweaters. I think we may have to visit with your sales clerk friend! So cute. We are taking E to see R & B when we get back. We have started re-reading the books and I'm pretty sure I never thought Beezus would look like Selena Gomez or be that old, but when I read books I'm not selling them to movie audiences in my head! So there you go!

I can't wait to take Caroline to see R&B. I loved those books too. Glad to hear the movie is good.

Love your clothes. I would give anything for a Nordstrom's. Their shoe department makes me so happy.

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau

Europe 2023 {Day 9 ~ Munich & Bavarian Alps}

 On Tuesday, December 20th I grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then walked about 15 minutes to where I met my tour for the day.  On my first visit to Munich, I only had time for one "day trip" outside of the city and I chose to go to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, but I always knew I wanted to venture down to the Bavarian Alps and see some castles on my next visit.  I had booked the premium tour and it was so fancy.  There was a snack bar and they even served beer and wine on the way home after the last stop of the day.  First stop was at Linderhof Castle. This was a "small" castle of King Ludwig's that was a partial mini-replica of Versailles.  It was a snowy walk to the castle... Interior photos were not allowed, but you can see some pics of the interior HERE Like Versailles, there are fountains and sculptures surrounding Linderhof, but they cover the statues with wood huts to protect them from the winter elements. After visiting Linderhof, we made a (to

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches... Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew... It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an &quo
